Recorder Groups

If you are looking for a group to play with, here are a few groups that I know of. If you would like your group to be included or have any other information to share, please let me know by emailing me at info@woodenrecorders.co.nz

Far North: Tapestries is a group of friendly players of all sizes of recorder who meet weekly on Monday afternoons to play a wide variety of music from Renaissance to modern. Meetings are usually in or around Kerikeri or Monganui. Contact: Doug Bakke, bakkekd2r@earthlink.net.

Whangarei: A group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, in the evening, in Whangarei. Contact Rosemary Lister alrrhika@xtra.co.nz

Coromandel: A new group meeting regularly to play a range of music, predominantly baroque but with some more modern works. Contact Warwick Mather on warwick@artifis.co.nz.

Auckland: Recorderesque is a group that meets on Tuesday evenings on the North Shore. See www.meetup.com/North-Shore-Recorder-Consort-Meetup or phone Kevin Kim on 027 473 1069.

Wellington: REMU (Recorders and Early Music is a thriving group that meets regularly for soirees and Big Blows, and also runs a wonderful weekend course in October. See remu.org.nz for more information.

Christchurch: Christchurch School of Music runs a number of recorder ensembles for students and adults. See www.csm.org.nz/recorder-ensembles.
